Skill Development Boost in Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Government to Recruit 3,402 Vocational Trainers Across 1,701 Secondary Schools

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a monumental step toward bridging the gap between traditional academics and modern employability by launching a massive vocational education drive for the 2026-27 academic session. Under this initiative, 3,402 vocational trainers will be recruited through outsourcing agencies to impart practical skills to students in 1,701 government and non-government aided secondary schools across the state. Designed to equip young learners with industry-ready competencies alongside their regular studies, this comprehensive scheme ensures that students transition seamlessly from classrooms to professional careers with hands-on expertise in high-demand sectors.

Implementation Across 1,701 Schools With Dual Vocational Trades

According to the directives issued by the Secondary Education Department, a total of 731 government secondary schools and 970 aided secondary schools have been selected for this phase of the program. Each participating institution will introduce two distinct vocational trades. Under Category 1 guidelines, maintaining a minimum enrollment of 25 students per trade in the 9th grade is mandatory. To facilitate this, two specialized vocational instructors representing different trades will be deployed in every school. Students will receive dedicated theoretical and practical training for one hour daily, totaling six hours of vocational instruction per week.

Key Industry Sectors and Career Opportunities

The curriculum is meticulously designed around modern market demands, focusing on high-growth sectors such as retail, information technology (IT), tourism and hospitality, agriculture, and management and entrepreneurship. By undergoing this specialized training, students will open doors to future employment roles such as office assistants, data entry operators, microfinance executives, and retail store operations assistants. To complement classroom learning, the program mandates three special guest lectures per academic session by industry experts, alongside organized industrial tours to provide real-world workplace exposure.

Honorarium, Eligibility Criteria, and Strict Transparency Rules

Selected vocational trainers will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹15,000, disbursed by the outsourcing agency following monthly attendance verification by respective school principals. Candidates aiming to apply must fulfill specific criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A recognized graduation degree in the relevant job trade.

• Professional Certification: Possession of a valid National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) certificate.

• Work Experience: At least one year of relevant industrial or professional experience.

• Exclusive Deployment: To maintain absolute transparency and commitment, the department has ruled that no trainer can work in more than one school, and candidates must submit a formal affidavit confirming this compliance.
