Campus Placements Skyrocket by 50.8% with Packages Touching ₹10 Lakh

Bihar’s polytechnic landscape is witnessing a remarkable turnaround, with campus placements outpacing traditional engineering colleges in the state. Data from the 2025-26 academic year highlights a staggering performance by polytechnic institutes, where 14,645 students secured lucrative job offers through campus drives. This figure represents a massive 50.8% increase in placements compared to the previous year, signaling a clear shift in employer preference toward technical, skill-oriented diploma holders. With the post-pandemic era fueling a surge in recruitment, polytechnic education has emerged as a high-growth career path for thousands of students across the state.

Lucrative Packages and Rising Demand

The financial prospects for polytechnic graduates have never been brighter. Selected students are now commanding average annual packages ranging between ₹6 lakh and ₹7 lakh. In high-performing instances, top-tier recruiters have offered packages as high as ₹10 lakh per annum, placing these diploma holders on par with many four-year engineering graduates. This surge in demand is supported by the sheer volume of recruitment; for context, while state engineering colleges saw approximately 6,000 placements in the same period, polytechnic institutes successfully facilitated over 14,000, underscoring their critical role in the state's technical workforce development.

Gender Diversity and Long-Term Growth

The latest data reflects a significant move toward gender inclusivity, with 3,505 female students securing placements alongside 11,140 male counterparts in 2025-26. The growth trajectory over the last six years has been nothing short of exponential: from 1,002 placements in 2020-21 to 14,645 in 2025-26, the pace of campus recruitment has increased nearly 14.6 times. This sustained upward trend validates the effectiveness of current vocational training initiatives and the industry's growing reliance on polytechnic-trained professionals for operational and technical roles.

Expansion of the Polytechnic Ecosystem

The success in Bihar is mirrored by a broader regional focus on technical entrance and recruitment. In neighboring Jharkhand, the Polytechnic Entrance Competitive Examination saw a robust turnout, with 5,464 candidates appearing across designated centers to pursue similar career opportunities. By maintaining a rigorous and peaceful examination environment, authorities are ensuring that the pipeline for polytechnic talent remains strong. As Bihar continues to scale its polytechnic intake—reaching an enrollment of approximately 32,000 students—the state is effectively positioning itself as a leader in creating a job-ready, highly skilled workforce that aligns with modern industrial requirements.
