Yogi Government Allocates Rs 1014 Crore to Revenue Dept, New Collectorates for Varanasi and Bahjoi
The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has introduced a forward-looking supplementary budget for the financial year 2026-27, putting a major spotlight on administrative efficiency, infrastructure development, and disaster management. Demonstrating its commitment to strengthening grassroots governance, the state administration has earmarked a substantial provision of ₹1,014.11 crore specifically for the Revenue Department. This comprehensive financial package aims to modernize official buildings, improve working conditions for civil servants, and bolster the state's disaster response capabilities to ensure seamless public service delivery across districts.
Modernizing Infrastructure: Integrated Collectorates in Varanasi and Sambhal
A standout feature of the revenue department allocation is the massive push toward upgrading district-level administrative infrastructure. The supplementary budget includes dedicated funding for the construction of a state-of-the-art, integrated collectorate-cum-residential building in Bahjoi, which serves as the headquarters for Sambhal district. Simultaneously, a significant allocation of ₹140.65 crore has been proposed for building a brand-new integrated collectorate facility in Varanasi. These modern complexes are designed to bring multiple government operations under one roof, making public access easier and providing officers with advanced workspaces.
Strengthening State Disaster Relief and Residential Housing
With an eye on holistic administrative welfare, the Yogi government has allocated ₹739 crore directly to the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDMF), drastically improving the state machinery's readiness for emergency rescue and relief operations. Furthermore, to address residential needs, a one-time budget provision of ₹85 crore has been set aside for the repair, expansion, reconstruction, and modernization of residential quarters for officials at the divisional, district, and tehsil levels, which will also cover necessary land purchases for future developmental projects.
