Gorakhpur Gift: CM Yogi to Inaugurate Basharatpur Kalyan Mandapam on August 29 for Affordable Family Events
In a major civic welfare boost for Gorakhpur, low- and middle-income families will soon have access to a modern, economical venue for weddings and community gatherings. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to inaugurate the newly constructed Kalyan Mandapam in Basharatpur on the afternoon of August 29, 2026. Built by the Gorakhpur Development Authority (GDA) utilizing funds from the Chief Minister's discretionary allocation, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to ease the financial burden of hosting social and cultural events.
Modern Architecture and Facilities at Basharatpur Kalyan Mandapam
Spread across an expansive 2,593-square-meter area in Ward No. 80 (Rapti Nagar) at Basharatpur, the two-storeyed structure has been completed at a cost of ₹3.10 crore. Special emphasis has been placed on attractive architecture, spacious layouts, and high-end amenities to match commercial marriage halls at a fraction of the cost:
-
Ground Floor Amenities: Features a massive multi-purpose hall with a seating capacity of 225 guests, accompanied by a dedicated kitchen, store room, administrative office, changing rooms, and separate modern restrooms for men and women.
-
First Floor Accommodations: Houses an additional large hall along with six well-furnished guest rooms equipped with attached toilets and dressing facilities.
-
Beautification and Parking: The campus includes landscaped lawns adorned with decorative flowers and plants, an attractive fountain installed in front of the main building, and spacious parking developed with durable interlocking tiles.
Affordable Venue for Weddings and Community Celebrations
The new Kalyan Mandapam is equipped to host a wide array of auspicious and social occasions, including weddings, Tilak ceremonies, tonsure rituals, cultural gatherings, and community events. By offering modern infrastructure at subsidized, budget-friendly rates, the facility ensures that economically weaker and middle-class families can celebrate life's milestones with dignity and comfort without falling into debt for expensive venues.
Expanding Gorakhpur's Infrastructure of Public Mandapams
This milestone marks the seventh facility of its kind inaugurated under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the region. Previously established Kalyan Mandapams across Gorakhpur include those located in Khorabar, Surajkund, Manbela, Tola Piru Shaheed (Raptinagar Extension), Bichhiya Jungle Tulsiram, and Jungle Beni Madhav. This ongoing initiative reflects the administration's firm commitment to upgrading local urban infrastructure and supporting grassroots community welfare across Uttar Pradesh.
