CM Yogi to Conduct Aerial Survey of Mandakini Floods in Chitrakoot, Distribute Relief Kits to Affected Families on Sunday

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to visit Chitrakoot on Sunday to personally review the widespread devastation caused by the recent catastrophic floods of the Mandakini River. Arriving in Chitrakoot at noon, the Chief Minister will conduct a comprehensive aerial inspection of affected villages, damaged infrastructure, bridges, and submerged rural pockets. Following the survey, he will visit the Ramayan Mela complex to distribute essential relief kits to families displaced by the nearly 20 days of relentless flooding.

Assessing the Ravages of the Mandakini Flood Across 36 Villages

The Chief Minister’s high-level visit comes at a crucial juncture as the district struggles to recover from severe natural flooding that impacted 36 villages, including the sacred Ramghat area. Official assessments indicate that nearly 500 houses suffered structural damage due to the rising waters, with district authorities having already disbursed financial compensation to owners of 311 affected homes. The aggressive currents and overflowing waterways also battered local roads, bridges, and connecting pathways, while businesses and commercial establishments along the riverbanks endured heavy financial setbacks as floodwaters inundated marketplaces.

Rigorous Administrative Preparations and Ground Review

Ahead of the Chief Minister's arrival, local administrative machinery has intensified security and logistical arrangements. CM Yogi's helicopter will touch down at Chitrakoot Airport in the Devangana Valley, from where he will travel by road to the Ramayan Mela complex. District Magistrate Pulkit Garg and Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh conducted a thorough on-site inspection of the airport, Ramghat, and the event venue on Saturday morning to ensure flawless execution. Notably, the visit follows a previous flood-relief inspection of Chitrakoot's affected regions by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav a week prior.
