Devotional fervor and festive cheer filled the historic Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur as children dressed in vibrant Krishna and Radha avatars transformed the Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan into a living Gokul. Organized to commemorate the auspicious birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, the Sri Krishna Balroop Decoration Competition captivated attendees, visitors, and dignitaries alike. Gorakhpeethadhiswar and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the celebrations, showering affection on the young participants, presenting them with delightful gifts, toys, and chocolates, and immersing himself in the spiritual ambiance.
Little Krishnas and Radhas Transform the Stage: Winners and Competition Highlights
The competition, conducted across two distinct categories, showcased the creativity and devotion of local families as children donned peacock feathers, flutes, traditional dhotis, and ornate lehengas. In the fiercely contested "Kanha" category, Sharvil Pandey clinched first place, followed by Soumya Prajapati in second, and Himanshi Srivastava in third. Meanwhile, in the "Gopal" category, the top honor was awarded to Sarthak, with Rajveer securing second place and Rudra winning third. Every participant, alongside the title winners, was awarded commemorative certificates and prizes by the panel of judges—Sarika Rai, Manisha Singh, and Hridaya Tripathi—with Shivendra Pandey deftly anchoring the stage proceedings.
Soulful Bhajan Sandhya and Traditional Sohar Enthrall Devotees
Parallel to the fancy dress event, an enchanting Bhajan Sandhya curated in collaboration with renowned folk artist Dr. Rakesh Srivastava resonated through the auditorium. The musical evening opened with a melodious invocation by Puneet Srivastava, followed by evocative presentations of traditional Sohar by Hridaya Tripathi and Anita Singh, alongside joyous Badhai Geet rendered by Lakshmi Gupta. Singers Umesh Mishra and Ekta Shukla elevated the devotional energy with classical Krishna hymns, while Dr. Rakesh Srivastava filled the hall with customary festive songs, supported on instruments by musicians Shyamsundar Lal Srivastava 'Hanslona', Deepak, Aabhas Pathak, and Sudhakar Sinha.
Midnight Devotion: Four-Hour Bhajan Recital in the Temple Sanctum Sanctorum
The spiritual atmosphere reached its pinnacle inside the temple's sacred sanctum sanctorum, where an uninterrupted four-hour bhajan recital unfolded from 8:00 PM to midnight, leading right up to the midnight moment of Janmotsav. Presented by artists and disciples of the Hanuman Sangeet Ashram and Seva Sansthan, the musical offering was initiated under the musical direction of Abhishek Pandey 'Bittu'. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spent dedicated time listening intently to the sacred hymns before the midnight rituals commenced. Soulful renditions were delivered by vocalists including Siddhi Singh, Nishant Shukla, Shreyansh Tejaswi, Om Singh, Hridayansh Srivastava, Apurva Naman, Akanksha Tripathi, Preeti Agrahari, and Alka Jaiswal, coordinated by Dharmendra Kumar Srivastava and accompanied instrumentally by Ajit Raj, Shailesh Dubey, and Rudraksh Shukla.
