Hariyali Teej: Festival of the showers of Sawan
As the time of month of Sawan starts, Nature wraps up in a beautiful green song. Its really a lovely time and leaves one with a festive mood as Hariyali Teej comes. According to old beliefs the Hariyali Teej was that day on which Mother Paravati had completed her long and difficult penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband.
On which day it will be celebrated? This year the holy month of Sawan is starting from 30th July. Hence, this festival will be celebrated on 15 th August, 2026 with lot of extravagance.
Kajari Teej: The further saga of love and togetherness
After the enjoyment and playing on Hariyali Teej, arrives Kajri Teej. This is also a festival celebrating the divine union of Shiva and Parvati. Here, folk songs are sung in villages and towns and a whole new zeal of celebrating is experienced.
Date of celebration. The date on the calendar for this day is the third day of darkfortnights, Bhadrapada month. The year, Kajari Teej is by far celebrated on Monday, 31st August 2026.
Hartalika Teej: The most rigorous and holy fast
The third and the most difficult Teej of the year is Hartharlika Teej. On this day women keep fast without a drop of water for the good health and longevity of their husbands. Women worship Shiva and Gauri all day long and remain awake all night.
When to commemorate - The holy fast of this blue has been set for the third day of Shukla Paksha of Bhado month and will be celebrated this year Monday (14 th September 2026).
Why is 'Teej' so special?
This holy festival of Teej is one of the biggest and most beautiful celebrations for married women. They truly worship Goddess Parvati for the greatest happiness, peace, development and long life of their husbands. Even unmarried young girls fast during this festival with the prayer that perhaps they will get a suitable and loyal life partner like Lord Shiva, under the blessings of Goddess Parvati.
