Meanwhile, many TMC leaders have faced public outcry since the party's crushing defeat in the state polls. Multiple instances of egg-throwing have been reported, including former state minister Kunal Ghosh who was egged by protesters while addressing reporters outside Mamata Banerjee's residence on June 15. The party accused the BJP of conspiracy in the incident. Similarly, TMC leader Soumitra Banerjee who was being taken to court after being arrested, faced chants of 'thief thief' and was pelted with eggs.
Abhishek Banerjee also facedegg barrage
Another incident involved former minister Udayan Guha who was egged on June 18. Furthermore, Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee who is also the party MP, bore the brunt of a hostile crowd as protesters threw eggs and stones at him during a protest in Sonarpur area of South 24 Parganas district. TMC squarely blamed BJP for such protests, a charge the BJP strongly denied. According to the saffron party, the protest was a public reaction to the actions carried out by TMC during its rule.
