The storyline of the movie
Deiva Thirumagal is the tale of a simple-minded person, Krishna(Vikram), who brings his daughter, Neela (Sara Arjun), up all by himself post his wife’s demise. But when Neela’s paternal grandfather and aunt abduct her, Krishna takes her back in a court of law and thus starts his fight against all odds for getting back his daughter. The bonding between this father and daughter has left most viewers with teary eyes.

The film was alleged to be a copy of 2001's I Am Sam, a critically and commercially acclaimed film by American filmmaker Jessie Nelson but the film managed to do exceedingly well.
