Bollywood versatile star Saif Ali Khan is raising the bar for action thrillers with his upcoming cinematic project, Haiwaan. Directed by renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan, the high-octane psychological thriller features Saif in a never-seen-before role as a blind man with exceptional combat expertise, locking horns with superstar Akshay Kumar. Embracing physical realism, Saif chose to perform his own death-defying stunts without a body double—an intense commitment that left him physically exhausted and requiring days of recovery.

Performing High-Octane Stunts Without a Body Double

Breaking away from standard action choreography, Saif Ali Khan dedicated himself fully to the demanding physical requirements of his character. According to film producer Satish Fen, while Saif portrays a visually impaired protagonist, the character possesses specialized combat training that necessitated intricate, high-energy fight sequences.

Refusing to rely on a stunt double or duplicate, Saif performed the rigorous action sequences himself. The raw, unfiltered approach brought exceptional authenticity to the screen but took a heavy physical toll on the actor.

Real Props and a Grueling Two-Day Recovery

The intensity of the production reached its peak during the filming of a complex combat block. To maintain absolute realism, the sequence incorporated real props, including actual broken glass and heavy furniture. The sheer physical strain of the action block left Saif battered and exhausted, requiring two full days of rest to recover from the physical shock.

Haiwaan serves as the anticipated Hindi language remake of Priyadarshan's acclaimed Malayalam thriller Oppam, which originally starred Mohanlal.
