India’s premier IT services bellwether, Tata Consultancy Services, delivered a resilient operational and talent performance in the second quarter, hiring 4,258 employees on a net basis. The robust hiring drive propelled the tech giant’s total global workforce to 598,056—its highest talent count in five quarters—underscoring sustained recruitment momentum across core technology and enterprise delivery segments. This marks the third consecutive quarter of positive net additions for the Mumbai-headquartered IT major, following the addition of 9,279 associates in the June quarter and 2,356 additions in the preceding March quarter.
Attrition Moderates While Reskilling Gains Strong Traction
Talent retention continued to demonstrate healthy recovery, with TCS reporting a Last-Twelve-Month attrition rate of 13.3% in IT services for the September quarter, moderating from 13.6% logged in the prior quarter. Aggressive upskilling initiatives in emerging and critical technical capabilities drove a sharp 17% sequential surge in cumulative learning hours, which touched 17.1 million hours during the three-month period. Highlighting the company's human capital strategy, Chief Human Resources Officer Sudeep Kunnumal emphasized that proactive upskilling programs alongside strategic hiring of high-caliber digital talent are successfully shaping a future-ready, scalable organization across global centers.
Strategic AI Revenue Exceeds $3.1 Billion Milestone
Reflecting massive structural acceleration into generative artificial intelligence and enterprise automation, TCS witnessed its dedicated AI revenue stream cross the critical $3.1 billion benchmark. Artificial intelligence solutions now account for over 10% of the firm's total top-line revenue, serving as a primary operational catalyst across industry verticals. Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director K Krithivasan affirmed that the IT leader registered broad-based market expansion across key overseas geographies, highlighting prominent digital transformation alliances and platform partnerships with leading global brands, including luxury automaker Porsche and retail major Best Buy.
Record Deal Wins of $9.6 Billion and Shareholder Dividend
Commercial momentum remained exceptionally strong through the quarter, with TCS securing total contract value deal wins worth $9.6 billion, up sequentially from $9.5 billion in the previous quarter. On the financial front, consolidated revenue came in at ₹73,188 crore, while consolidated net profit stood at ₹13,884 crore. Rewarding shareholder trust, the board of directors declared an interim dividend of ₹12 per equity share, capping off an all-round quarterly performance characterized by steady operating margins, healthy order pipelines, and aggressive headcount expansion.
