KEC International Bags Record ₹2,872 Cr Deal to Evacuate 8.5 GW Green Energy
In a major breakthrough for India's power transmission and clean energy infrastructure, global engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) major KEC International Limited has secured massive new project orders valued at ₹2,872 crore from state-run Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). Representing the RPG Group flagship’s single largest transmission and distribution (T&D) order intake in the domestic market to date, the turnkey mandate tasks the engineering conglomerate with designing, supplying, and installing advanced 765 kV transmission lines. The extensive grid project is engineered to evacuate and transmit 8.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy generated from Gujarat’s expanding solar and wind power hubs into the national electricity grid, reinforcing KEC International's strategic footprint in India's rapid green energy expansion.
Evacuating 8.5 GW Green Power: 765 kV Corridors and FY27 Order Inflows Exceeding ₹13,500 Cr
The newly awarded ₹2,872 crore project focuses on the construction of high-capacity 765 kV transmission lines, a critical ultra-high-voltage system deployed to transfer bulk electricity over long distances with minimal transmission losses. As India accelerates renewable capacity additions, establishing heavy-duty transmission evacuation corridors has become vital to prevent grid bottlenecks and ensure uninterrupted supply. Commenting on the landmark achievement, Vimal Kejriwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KEC International, highlighted that consistent mega-order inflows have substantially strengthened the company’s core T&D vertical, adding that the domestic power infrastructure sector offers strong growth potential due to rising national energy consumption and structural grid modernizations. With these latest contracts from PGCIL, KEC International’s cumulative order intake for the current financial year has crossed the ₹13,500 crore mark, with the T&D segment accounting for an overwhelming ₹9,500 crore of the total book.
Stock Movement and Valuation: Order Book Outpaces ₹8,724 Cr Market Cap Ahead of Monday Open
The order announcement has placed KEC International on the radar of Dalal Street analysts ahead of Monday's trading session, creating a notable valuation dynamic where the company’s T&D order intake alone exceeds its entire market capitalization. On Friday, KEC International shares closed down 1.05 percent at ₹327.75 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), after paring steeper losses from an intraday low of ₹317.25, bringing the company's total market valuation to ₹8,724 crore. While the stock has experienced sustained market headwinds—declining 19 percent over the past month and dropping 56 percent year-to-date in 2026—analysts expect this record ₹2,872 crore transmission deal and strong revenue visibility to serve as a pivotal sentiment booster as investors re-evaluate the infrastructure player's forward execution capabilities.
