- Get up early in the morning and take a holy bath.
- Clean the house and temple thoroughly.
- Decorate your house with lamps and flower strings.
- Install the idols of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Kubera and Lord Dhanvantri during the puja muhurat.
- Light a lamp of desi ghee.
- Apply tilak of sandalwood and kumkum.
- Offer garland of flowers and fruits, sweets etc.
- Buy anything in the auspicious time and place it in front of God and worship it by applying tilak and burning incense.
- In the evening, light a lamp outside the house in the south-west direction and offer it to Yamraj ji.
