Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of the CEO of America's largest health insurance company. According to the information, a man was arrested in Altoona, 450 km from New York, on Monday morning and the police is interrogating him. The accused has been identified as Luigi Mangione and his age is said to be 26 years.

Luigi Mangione was found with a ghost gun capable of firing 9mm rounds. He has been charged with possession of a fake ID and gun charges. Thompson, 50, was shot dead by a gunman last week while he was attending an investor conference.

Flirting with the receptionist cost me heavily

Police found his photo at a youth hostel where he stayed before the murder. According to reports, he was photographed when he lowered his mask to flirt with a receptionist. New York Mayor Eric Adams said he matched the details of the suspect they were looking for. Several items were also found with him, which police believe are related to the murder.

How did the police catch Mangione?

Employees at the Altoona McDonald's branch reported Mangione to police. He was wearing a mask and hat and working on a laptop at the time.

When officers approached him, he gave them a fake ID. Police said Mangione, who studied at the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania, had used one of the fake IDs to check into a hotel in Manhattan, New York, before the murder. He became quiet and started shaking when officers asked him if he had been to New York recently, they said.

Video footage revealed

A video footage of the man was also going viral, the footage showed the suspect wearing a hooded top and covering the lower part of his face approach Thompson from behind and shoot him multiple times. Several onlookers were present during the killing and the attack was captured on CCTV.

As the UnitedHealthcare CEO fell to the ground, the suspect fled on foot and then rode a bike to Central Park. From there, he took a bus and disappeared, sparking a nationwide manhunt.
