There are many such stories in Mahabharata (Mahabharat Katha) which can surprise a person. Today we are going to tell you the story of the birth of King Shantanu's second wife i.e. Satyavati, which is very interesting. Most people would know Satyavati as the daughter of Dasa, the head of fishermen. But do you know that Satyavati was actually the daughter of a king.
This is the story
According to the story, once King Sudhanva went hunting in the forest. Meanwhile, his wife became menstruating and the desire to conceive arose in her mind. Then the queen sent this message to the king through a bird. The king put his semen in a vessel and asked the bird to deliver it to the queen. But in the meantime the semen fell from the bird into the river. A fish in that river consumed that semen, which was actually an Apsara, but was transformed into a fish due to the curse of Brahma ji.
Boy and girl born from fish
The fish became pregnant and one day it was caught by a fisherman. Being huge, he took the fish to the court of King Sudhanva. When the stomach of the fish was cut open, a boy and a girl came out of it. The king kept the boy with himself and handed over the girl to the fisherman.
Sage Parashar gave the boon
The fisherman raised the girl with great love and care. As she grew up, she became more and more beautiful. Due to living in the fishermen's colony, she was named Matsyagandha. Later, Sage Parashar gave Matsyagandha a boon that a wonderful fragrance will emanate from her body, due to which she was called Satyavati.
