After two days of gains, the market has closed with a decline today. Nifty and Sensex closed in the red after a day of fluctuations on Wednesday. Talking about the broader market, the midcap and smallcap indices closed on a rise. Talking about the sectoral front, FMCG, auto, metal indices closed on a rise. Pressure was seen in banking, pharma and IT stocks.

At what level did the market close?
After a full day's work on Wednesday, the Sensex closed at 79,942, down 427 points. The Nifty closed at 24,341, down 126 points. Nifty Bank saw a pressure of 513 points and the index closed at 51,808. The midcap index closed at 56,339 with a gain of 88 points.

 

Which stocks saw action today
After the second quarter results, Adani Group's flagship company Adani Enterprises saw a rise today. This stock closed as the fastest stock on Nifty today. Adani Ports also closed with a gain. Buying was also seen in government company BEL after a strong second quarter and positive outlook. Pharma sector's Cipla closed with a decline of 4%. After the management's commentary and outlook, this stock was included in the Nifty's weakest list. Pressure was seen in many companies of the pharma sector.

 

Aditya Birla Group's ABCapital closed with a gain of 5% today after the release of second quarter results. The company's results in the second quarter have been better than expected. CONCOR closed with a gain of 4% after maintaining volume and guidance. FMCG and auto sectors saw a rise due to increasing traction in festive demand. Maruti Suzuki and Marico closed with gains. Both these stocks were included in the bullish list.

MCX saw selling pressure with heavy volume today. This stock closed with a fall of 6%. Honeywell saw an 8% decline after weak results. Force Motors closed at an upper circuit of 20% after strong results in the second quarter. Buying is seen in railway stocks today. IRFC, RVNL, IRCON closed with a gain of 5-8%. Insurance stocks came under pressure after a day of gains. Most stocks in the insurance sector closed with a fall of 2-3%.
