'I Am From India': President Murmu's Independence Day Greetings Bring Joy to Ukraine's Zelensky

Diplomatic warmth crossed international borders as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed profound gratitude to India following a special congratulatory message from President Droupadi Murmu. Marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's restoration of independence, the message resonated deeply with Kyiv's leadership, prompting Zelensky to publicly acknowledge India's warm wishes and reiterate Kyiv's commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation.

President Zelensky's Social Media Message and Gratitude

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), President Volodymyr Zelensky shared his appreciation for the diplomatic outreach from New Delhi. Expressing visible delight at receiving warm greetings from the Indian head of state, Zelensky emphasized the shared global desire for peace amidst ongoing geopolitical conflicts.

"I am delighted that Indian President Droupadi Murmu sent her best wishes to the people of Ukraine. Thank you for your wishes for peace. On the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's restoration of independence, the greatest dream of millions of Ukrainians is to see Russia's war end honorably. It is essential that the entire world joins forces to help pave the way forward in this direction," Zelensky posted.

Furthermore, the Ukrainian leader underscored Kyiv's dedication to fostering robust diplomatic ties, noting that Ukraine remains fully committed to expanding mutually beneficial dialogue and strategic cooperation with India across various sectors.

Honoring National Heroes on Ukraine's 35th Independence Milestone

Alongside acknowledging international greetings, President Zelensky detailed the poignant commemorative events held across Ukraine to mark three and a half decades of restored independence. In a solemn ceremony, state honors, military battle flags, and honorary "For Courage and Valor" ribbons were presented to distinguished soldiers, civilians, and families of fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the nation.

Among those honored posthumously were Junior Lieutenant Nazariy Grintsevich, 'Platsdarm' search organization head Oleksiy Yukov, and schoolboy Stepan Chubenko. Zelensky also recognized prominent cultural and civic figures, including Olympic shooting champion Olena Kostevych, Bishop Vitaly Krivitsky, 'Superhumans' center CEO Olga Rudneva, artist Anatoly Krivolap, and singer Zlata Ognevich, thanking global allies and domestic citizens alike for standing steadfastly with Ukraine.
