On the very first day of the rollout, approximately 60 senior women stepped onto the buses from the Siddharthnagar depot, their faces lighting up with joy as conductors handed them zero-fare tickets and explained the mechanics of the state-backed welfare initiative.

For 65-year-old Singari Devi of Musabhar, the scheme arrived as an answered prayer. Overjoyed after boarding her bus without paying a fare, she showered blessings on the leadership, saying, "May Yogi live long, half our sufferings are gone." Expressing deep relief, she noted that visiting temples, holy shrines, and distant pilgrimage sites would now be entirely stress-free, allowing elderly women to travel independently without financial anxiety or burdening their families.

The excitement surrounding the scheme was equally palpable for 70-year-old Mewati. Initially curious when depot in-charge Rahul explained the program, her expression transformed into radiant gratitude upon learning that age verification via government identification would grant her lifelong free transit. Mewati shared that transportation costs had always been a major hurdle, often forcing her to postpone visits to relatives or holy sites. With a smile, she remarked that she would no longer need to ask her son for travel money, highlighting how the initiative fosters genuine financial independence and dignity for senior women.

Designed to ease the mobility of elderly citizens across Uttar Pradesh, the scheme operates through a streamlined verification process:

• Eligibility: All female residents aged 60 years or above qualify for free transportation on state roadways buses.

• Verification: Beneficiaries must carry a valid government-issued identification card (such as an [Aadhaar Redacted] card) to verify their age.

• Issuance: Upon presenting the identification card to the bus conductor, a zero-fare ticket is issued instantly on the spot.
