Yogi Cabinet Clears 9.5 Hectares Free Land to Expand Mainpuri Sainik School
In a major institutional boost to military education and youth training in Uttar Pradesh, the state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has officially approved the free-of-cost allotment of 9.524 hectares of land in Nauner Gram Sabha to facilitate the comprehensive campus expansion of Sainik School Mainpuri. Under the approved inter-departmental transfer mechanism, the designated land parcel currently managed by the local village council will be reclaimed without financial liability and vested with the Secondary Education Department, which will formally execute the deed transfer to the Sainik School Society operating under the Ministry of Defence. The decisive cabinet intervention resolves severe spatial constraints at the existing residential academy, where two massive high-tension power transmission lines running across the campus premises had rendered large swathes of the current grounds unbuildable due to mandatory electrical safety clearances, severely restricting structural development.
Overcoming High-Tension Grid Hazards: Strategic Land Acquisition in Nauner
The imperative for an alternative site emerged after district administrative reviews confirmed that the physical trajectory of overhead high-voltage power corridors significantly compromised usable acreage on the school’s existing 50-acre footprint. Recognizing that relocating heavy electrical grid infrastructure would be logistically prolonged and economically unviable, the Mainpuri District Magistrate conducted a topographical survey and identified adjacent revenue land within the Nauner Gram Sabha perimeter. Under the foundational bilateral agreement executed between the Ministry of Defence and the Uttar Pradesh Government, the state administration holds the statutory responsibility to provide adequate, unencumbered land and infrastructure support for Sainik Schools. The newly sanctioned 9.524-hectare plot will now host specialized infrastructure, including modern academic wings, advanced science and defense laboratories, sports training complexes, drill grounds, and dedicated residential quarters for administrative officers, instructional faculty, and non-teaching personnel.
Strengthening India's 30th Sainik School: Advanced Facilities for 568 Cadets
Established on July 22, 2019, Sainik School Mainpuri holds distinction as the 30th institution established under the prestigious national network of the Sainik School Society, serving as a vital feeder academy for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Indian Naval Academy (INA). The institution currently educates and trains 568 enrolled cadets, comprising 517 boys alongside 51 girl cadets who represent the armed forces' expanding gender-inclusive training paradigm. The addition of the Nauner campus land will allow the institution to substantially upgrade its physical conditioning apparatus, obstacle courses, parade circuits, and dormitories while maintaining strict defense-grade safety perimeters away from high-voltage utilities. By bridging infrastructural hurdles through prompt executive action, the state government has ensured that future defense aspirants from rural and semi-urban backgrounds in Uttar Pradesh receive world-class military orientation, physical conditioning, and academic excellence in an expansive, secure environment.
