In an ambitious move to bridge the gap between rural administration and primary education, the Uttar Pradesh government is rolling out a comprehensive grassroots public participation campaign titled "Mera Gaon - Mera Vidyalaya" (My Village - My School). Initiated under the direct directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this mega initiative will be executed throughout November 2026 across 1,565 designated PM Shri schools statewide. Backed by a sanctioned state exchequer outlay of ₹46.95 lakh, the primary objective is to transform state-run institutions from isolated classrooms into active centers of public engagement, neighborhood development, and childhood talent incubation, allowing rural families to take collective ownership of their local educational ecosystems.

Bridging the Village-School Divide: SMCs, Local Representatives, and Samagra Shiksha Convergence

The "Mera Gaon – Mera Vidyalaya" campaign establishes an interactive collaborative forum bringing together School Management Committees (SMCs), Gram Panchayat representatives, village pradhans, local elder bodies, retired government officials, and parents onto a unified consultative platform. These interactive assemblies will directly address long-standing grassroots issues, including improving child enrollment ratios, eliminating classroom dropouts, and enhancing student retention and foundational learning outcomes. Simultaneously, educational administrators will educate community members about various financial benefits, academic subsidies, and infrastructure provisions sanctioned under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (Comprehensive Education Mission), effectively dissolving historical communication barriers between rural households and institutional management.

Cultural Festivals, Child Rights Signature Drives, and High-Level Administrative Endorsement

During the month-long program, participating PM Shri campuses will adopt a vibrant festival-like atmosphere featuring morning rallies (Prabhat Pheri), street plays (Nukkad Natak), oral storytelling sessions, poster-making challenges, art exhibitions, and athletic meets. Modern selfie points will be set up to engage parents and youth, while distinguished guests will felicitate high-achieving students in sports and academics to build confidence. Crucially, each event will anchor a massive signature campaign dedicated to child rights, sensitizing villagers against child labor and promoting child protection and safety standards. Endorsing the model, Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent Charge) Sandeep Singh noted that connecting schools with local communities creates an unshakeable foundation for student success, while Director General of School Education Monika Rani highlighted that sustained community collaboration directly fuels experiential learning and unlocks hidden talents in rural students across Uttar Pradesh.
