'Petro Water' Wins 'Build for UP' at MIET Meerut as Yogi Govt's 'UPRise 2026'
Under the proactive governance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is driving a transformative shift across higher educational institutions, steering college students away from conventional degree chases and toward hands-on entrepreneurship, technological innovation, and self-reliance. As part of this state-wide initiative, the high-energy campus drive "UPRise 2026" was organized at the Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) in partnership with Times Network and Zoom. Designed as a regional platform to empower student innovators to solve local socio-economic challenges, the initiative equips students with direct mentorship and incubation tools. Prior to arriving in Meerut, the UPRise tour had already ignited startup interest among tens of thousands of students across major urban centers including Kanpur, Agra, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Mathura, Bareilly, and Saharanpur.
'Build for UP' Pitch Finale: 'Petro Water' Wins Top Honors and ₹25,000 Cash Prize
The MIET campus buzzed with entrepreneurial energy across multiple engagement hubs, notably the Chief Minister Yuva Swarojgar Yojana awareness stalls and interactive discussion walls in the dedicated 'Shakti Zone'. The central highlight of the event was the highly competitive 'Build for UP Pitch Finale', where 12 shortlisted student teams pitched innovative prototypes before an expert evaluation jury. After rigorous live technical and commercial assessments, student startup 'Petro Water' clinched the coveted first-place title, securing a cash prize of ₹25,000 on stage. High-potential venture 'Neuro Grip' was named Runner-Up 1, while sustainable farming solution 'Agri Nova' secured the Runner-Up 2 position, demonstrating the practical talent emerging from western Uttar Pradesh's engineering institutions.
Industry Mentorship and Digital Reach: Engaging Over 2 Lakh Youth Across UP
Gracing the event as chief guest, Uttar Pradesh BJP State Secretary Mahamedha Nagar addressed the gathering, urging students to take ownership of regional problem-solving and lead national technological advancements. The student entrepreneurs received direct, hands-on guidance from a distinguished panel of industry veterans, including consumer internet product specialist Harshit Desai, digital marketing and e-commerce expert Jayraj Jadhav, and creative producer Bipasha Sarangi, who delivered targeted masterclasses on minimum viable product (MVP) design, digital transformation, and brand storytelling. The mega event drew approximately 1,650 on-ground student registrations, over 8,000 campus footfalls, and an impressive digital audience of more than two lakh young innovators across social platforms, driven by the efforts of campus ambassadors Saloni Sharma, Adarsh Shukla, and Aastha Chauhan.
