In a major initiative to honor, support, and mainstream creative talent across the state, the Uttar Pradesh government through the State Lalit Kala Academy (Department of Culture) has officially announced the launch of the 36th State Level Art Exhibition 2026-27. Designed to offer both emerging and established creators a prominent institutional stage, the prestigious annual exhibition invites talented painters, sculptors, graphic artists, and traditional creators from all districts of Uttar Pradesh to submit their finest work. The submission window for entries and photographs will remain open throughout the month of October, running from October 1 to October 31, 2026. To recognize outstanding artistic excellence, the Academy will confer cash awards of ₹25,000 each, along with official certificates and mementos, to 10 exceptionally distinguished artists whose works are selected for top honors.

Submission Guidelines, Medium Specifications, and Two-Tier Selection Process

Participating creators are required to submit an entry fee of ₹300, payable via cash, money order, or bank draft drawn in Lucknow in favor of the Director, State Lalit Kala Akademi, Uttar Pradesh. Applicants can register in only one artistic genre—spanning painting, drawing, graphic art, sculpture, portraiture, wash, and traditional art forms—by submitting prescribed application forms accompanied by two clear 5x7-inch color photographs of their artwork created after October 1, 2025. Strict sizing parameters apply: paintings must not exceed 4x4 feet, while sculptures must fall within a maximum dimension of 4x4x4 feet and a minimum of 2x2 feet, constructed using durable materials like stone, wood, metal, or fiberglass. Selection will proceed in two rigorous stages, starting with photograph-based screening followed by final physical evaluation by an expert jury committee.
