CM Yogi on Girl Child Day: From 'Beti Bachao' to 'Nari Shakti Vandan'
Marking the convergence of Sharadiya Navratri and International Girl Child Day at the revered Shaktipeeth Devipatan temple in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath affirmed that the safety, dignity, and self-reliance of every daughter, sister, and woman remains an uncompromising priority of his administration. Speaking at the Girl Child Honor Ceremony, the Chief Minister underlined that the state's multi-pronged Mission Shakti campaign is anchored on the principle that national and regional progress can only be achieved when female security, social dignity, and economic autonomy are implemented simultaneously. Tracing the national trajectory of welfare reforms, he noted that the transformational journey commenced in 2014 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' mission to eliminate gender disparity at birth, which has now evolved into decisive political empowerment through the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, granting a landmark one-third reservation to women across the Indian Parliament and state legislative assemblies.
Birth-to-Marriage Safety Net: Kanya Sumangala Payouts, Mass Weddings, and Female Housing Titles
Detailing Uttar Pradesh’s cradle-to-career social safety net, Chief Minister Adityanath stated that the state has instituted comprehensive financial and institutional support for every girl child from infancy to marriage. Under the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana, structured financial installments are deposited into a daughter's account from the moment of birth, followed by substantial financial assistance of ₹1,00,000 provided at the time of marriage under state welfare schemes that have already facilitated the marriages of more than five lakh underprivileged women. In a major move toward female asset ownership and household authority, the Chief Minister announced that all residential allotments sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or Chief Minister Awas Yojana will now grant legal ownership rights directly to the female head of the family, ensuring lifelong security and domestic self-reliance.
Devipatan Sanctum Puja, Gau Seva, and Educational Push in Aspirational Balrampur
Invoking India’s civilizational heritage, Chief Minister Yogi drew spiritual parallels with how Lord Shri Ram honored Mother Shabari and restored dignity to Mata Ahalya, while referencing ancient scholars Maithili and Gargi as enduring emblems of female erudition. Visiting Balrampur—a recognized aspirational district—to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth ₹803 crore, including the upcoming Maa Pateshwari State University complex to be unveiled by Prime Minister Modi, the Chief Minister stayed overnight at the Shaktipeeth temple premises. Early Sunday morning, he performed special rituals to Goddess Pateshwari in the sanctum sanctorum, conducted traditional Gau Seva by feeding jaggery and gram to cows and calves in the temple gaushala, and visited the local farmers' fair. Highlighting grassroots education, he commended the district administration’s initiative to distribute study tables to girl students across Basic Education institutions and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, reaffirming the administration's resolve to foster educated and empowered daughters.
