Addressing a large public gathering at the Gorakhpur Club on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, during a prosthetic limbs and assistive devices distribution ceremony, the Chief Minister recalled that the monthly disability pension—which languished at a meager ₹300 under previous regimes—was progressively elevated by his government to ₹500 and subsequently doubled to ₹1,000 per month, with preparations now finalized to announce another substantial increase in the stipend.

Bridging Gaps: 664 Assistive Devices Distributed and Constituency-Wide Camps Planned for 2026-27

Jointly organized by the Department for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Hindustan Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (HFCL) under the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, Wednesday's mega event witnessed the distribution of 664 high-tech assistive instruments—including motorized tricycles, e-tricycles, smartphones, smart canes, and specialized Braille kits—directly to 509 verified beneficiaries. Emphasizing that state welfare must transition beyond mere charity to foster genuine self-reliance, CM Yogi announced that dedicated screening and enrollment camps will be organized across every assembly constituency throughout the 2026-27 financial year to ensure that every eligible disabled citizen left out of welfare rolls is successfully linked to state pension databases. Highlighting digital inclusion, the Chief Minister noted that over 1.7 million disabled individuals in Uttar Pradesh have already been issued universal digital identity cards.

Comprehensive Rehabilitation Infrastructure: Day Care Centers, Cochlear Implants, and Employment Schemes

Laying out a visionary roadmap for early childhood intervention and lifelong support, CM Yogi stated that instructions have been issued to establish fully equipped District Disability Rehabilitation Centers across all 18 administrative divisions of Uttar Pradesh, building upon the model center already operational at the Sitapur Eye Hospital campus in Gorakhpur. The state is prioritizing early diagnosis, speech therapy, parental counseling, and advanced medical interventions, including fully funded cochlear implant surgeries costing up to ₹6 lakh for hearing-impaired children aged three to seven. Furthermore, the administration is integrating Divyangjan into major economic and self-employment initiatives—such as the Chief Minister Yuva Swarojgar Yojana, PM Svanidhi, One District One Product (ODOP), PM Vishwakarma, PM Mudra, and Stand-Up India—ensuring that disabled citizens transform from passive beneficiaries into financially independent contributors to the state's economy.
