CM Yogi Adityanath Reviews Gorakhpur Development and Flood Preparedness
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during his three-day visit to his home district, convened a high-level review meeting with senior district and police officials at the Gorakhnath Temple. With the monsoon season and festive periods underway, the Chief Minister conducted a comprehensive assessment of ongoing infrastructure development projects, flood relief measures, and security arrangements for the holy month of Sawan and the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
Strict Monitoring of Flood Preparedness and Embankments
Addressing district officials, CM Yogi emphasized that flood management must remain a top priority. He directed authorities to ensure that all flood protection preparations are completed without delay. Emphasizing proactive governance, the Chief Minister instructed officials to maintain continuous surveillance over rising river water levels and conduct regular physical monitoring of embankments. Local administrations in vulnerable and flood-prone zones have been placed on high alert to respond swiftly to any emergency situations.
Directives for Sawan, Kanwar Yatra, and Temple Cleanliness
Keeping the sacred month of Sawan and the Kanwar Yatra in mind, CM Yogi issued strict instructions regarding public sanitation and pilgrim safety. He mandated deep-cleaning drives across all local Shivalayas (Lord Shiva temples) and religious shrines. Furthermore, he ordered officials to ensure pristine cleanliness, proper lighting, and uninterrupted civic amenities along all designated Kanwar Yatra routes so that devotees can undertake their holy journeys smoothly and without inconvenience.
Review of Major Infrastructure and Road Projects
The Chief Minister meticulously evaluated the progress of several vital infrastructure projects transforming Gorakhpur. During the briefing, officials reported that key connectivity works—including the four-lane road from Rajghat to Domingarh via Herbert Dam and the heritage corridor from Pandeyhata to Dharamshala—are scheduled for completion this month, with the CM instructing authorities to fast-track preparations for their formal inauguration.
Other major milestones reviewed include the Nausadh-Padleganj six-lane highway, the H.N. Singh Square to Gorakhnath four-lane, and the Sports College via Karimnagar to Fertilizer four-lane, all slated for completion by October. Meanwhile, the Char Phatak-Asuran four-lane is targeted for next month, the Gorakhpur-Pipraich four-lane by November 2026, and the Mohaddipur to Sahara Estate ring road along Ramgarhtal within two months. CM Yogi stressed zero tolerance for administrative delays, urged increased industrial investments through GIDA (Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority), and instructed the Municipal Corporation to implement immediate measures to counter waterlogging.
Grand Preparations for the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' Campaign
Transitioning to civic celebrations, CM Yogi inspected preparations for the grand Tiranga Yatra and Independence Day festivities. He instructed officials to decorate major intersections, government buildings, and public offices, ensuring the seamless distribution of the national flag from urban centers to rural hinterlands. The meeting was attended by top-tier officials, including the ADG, Commissioner, DIG, District Magistrate, GDA Vice President, and Municipal Commissioner, all tasked with executing the administration's welfare and security mandates efficiently.
