BJP’s focus on OBC community in Varanasi, three key positions in new team

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now finalised its new team in Uttar Pradesh for Mission 2027. After a long wait, BJP has also announced its office bearers in Kashi region and Varanasi. Political experts said the long wait is over as BJP gave control of all the three key district posts to the OBC community. District President and Metropolitan President, now President of Kashi Region has been selected from OBC community.

UP polls come into direct focus

The three important BJP positions associated with Varanasi district are held by Ashok Chaurasia (Kashi region president), Pradeep Agrahari (metropolitan president) and Ram Shakal Patel (district president). All of them are from the OBC community. The announcement of these names is clearly an indication of BJP’s attention to OBC politics in Varanasi and the Kashi region.

In the last ten years, persons from other communities and not only from the OBC community have been occupying the positions of Metropolitan President and Kashi Region President. This is a clear indication that the BJP is trying to target the OBC community in the Purvanchal region for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.

The state general secretary is now former president of Kashi region Dilip Patel, while Hansraj Vishwakarma, who was the district president, has become a minister in the state government, but before him, Vidyasagar Rai, who was the metropolitan president and Kashi region president Mahesh Chandra Srivastava still have a long wait for bigger responsibilities.

concentrate on 16 districts, 71 seats

In the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the battle in Purvanchal is very intense. There are 71 assembly seats in 16 districts of the Kashi region and the BJP has entrusted Ashok Chaurasia with the responsibility of the Kashi region.

Political analysts say that this time the contest for these seats of Purvanchal will be very interesting and it can not be denied that keeping in mind the equations between the Samajwadi Party and the alliance parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party has fully focused on OBC politics.
