The incident, which triggered widespread outrage online after graphic rumors surfaced on social media platforms, prompted swift intervention from the district police authorities. While initial online claims alleged that the victim was subjected to brutal torture and stripped naked following the decrees of an informal caste panchayat, law enforcement officials have formally refuted the sensational claims, confirming that the violence stemmed from an escalating domestic confrontation rather than an organized kangaroo court proceeding.

Missing Complaint to Co-Living: The Background of the Family Dispute

The sequence of events began on August 24, 2026, when the woman, a resident of Ailapur village, abruptly went missing from her marital home. Her husband subsequently lodged a missing person complaint at the local police station. The situation developed further on September 2, when the woman voluntarily surfaced at the police station alongside her brother-in-law, identified as Pochaya. During formal police questioning, both adults recorded their statements, asserting that they had left the village willingly out of mutual affection and intended to live together. After conducting standard counseling procedures, the police permitted the consenting adults to leave and reside together as per their wishes.

Relatives Launch Violent Confrontation: Police Debunk Viral Stripping Rumors

Tensions boiled over shortly after the couple began living together, when several aggrieved relatives tracked them down and initiated a heated argument. The confrontation quickly turned violent as family members scolded the woman, beat her up, and threw chilli powder directly onto her face. Dismissing the viral narratives as baseless exaggerations, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Metpally Sub-Division) A. Ramulu clarified that preliminary investigations confirmed the chilli powder was flung only at her face during a physical scuffle. The DSP firmly denied reports of the woman being stripped, paraded naked, or harmed with marking nut extracts, categorizing the episode as a personal assault rather than a community-sanctioned trial.
