Pushed Out of Moving Bus Over ₹10 Change: 24-Year-Old TGSRTC Conductor
In a heartbreaking turn of events that has triggered outrage across Telangana, 24-year-old State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) conductor Gundla Pravalika succumbed to severe injuries at a private healthcare facility in Hyderabad on Wednesday, ten days after being pushed out of a moving state-run bus by a passenger during a minor fare dispute. The fatal incident, which took place near the Mittagudem Center in Aswapuram Mandal of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, has led law enforcement authorities to escalate the legal proceedings against the accused passenger, B. Mounika. Station House Officer (SHO) CH Yellaiah of the Aswapuram police station confirmed that the accused, who was remanded to judicial custody shortly after the incident, is now booked under statutory murder charges, with medical examiners attributing the unmarried young conductor's demise to traumatic shock and excessive blood loss despite intensive emergency care.
Fatal Row Over ₹10 Change: How the Manuguru-Bhadrachalam Journey Turned Tragic
The tragic sequence unfolded on October 25, 2026, while Pravalika was on scheduled operational duty aboard a TGSRTC service operating between Manuguru and Bhadrachalam alongside bus driver K. Jampaiah. According to police records, the passenger, B. Mounika, boarded the transit vehicle at the Manuguru flower market accompanied by her young son. After securing a zero-fare ticket for herself under the state's women's travel initiative upon identity document verification, Mounika produced a ₹100 currency note to purchase a ₹10 half-fare ticket for her minor child. When Pravalika requested exact tender or smaller change for the remaining amount, an intense verbal argument flared up between the two. In the ensuing confrontation near the exit door, Mounika allegedly shoved Pravalika backwards out of the moving vehicle, causing the young conductor to fall directly beneath the path of the bus, where her right leg was crushed under the heavy rear wheels.
High-Level Government Interventions: ₹1 Crore Insurance, Job, and Indiramma Housing for Bereaved Family
Following the critical trauma, Pravalika was rushed to a nearby medical center before being transferred to specialized tertiary care in Hyderabad, where she ultimately lost her battle for life. Expressing profound sorrow over the tragedy, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved relatives via official social media channels, pledging comprehensive state assistance to rehabilitate the family. Under direct executive orders from the Chief Minister, the Telangana government announced an ex-gratia compensation of ₹10 lakh, a permanent government job for Pravalika's mother, and a subsidized residence allotted under the flagship Indiramma Housing Scheme. Furthermore, state Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who personally visited Osmania General Hospital to oversee post-mortem procedures and meet the victim's kin, announced that the family will receive an institutional insurance settlement of ₹1 crore, affirming that the transport department and the administration stand fully committed to securing justice and long-term welfare for their frontline workforce.
