UP PGT Teacher Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for 2,607 Posts, Check Eligibility, Pay Scale

Job seekers aspiring for a teaching career in Uttar Pradesh have a major opportunity, as the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has officially commenced online registrations for 2,607 Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) vacancies. The application window opened on September 17 and will remain active through October 17, 2026, on the official UPESSC recruitment portal. Applicants will also be provided an extended correction window until October 21 to rectify any clerical errors in their submitted forms. Of the total 2,607 notified vacancies across secondary institutions, 2,329 posts are allocated for boys' schools, while 278 positions are designated specifically for girls' institutions.

UP PGT 2026 Eligibility, Age Relaxations, and Application Fee Structure

To be eligible for the UP PGT Teacher recruitment drive, applicants must possess a relevant postgraduate degree from a recognized university along with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree. The commission has set the minimum age requirement at 21 years and the upper age limit at 62 years as of July 1, 2026, with applicable age relaxations extended to reserved category applicants in accordance with state government guidelines. Submitting the application requires a non-refundable fee of ₹1,500 for General, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates, ₹750 for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) applicants, and ₹500 for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

Lucrative Pay Scale and Detailed Selection Process

Candidates selected as PGT teachers will be placed under an attractive pay scale ranging from ₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100 per month, supplemented by applicable state allowances and perks. The selection protocol consists of a two-hour written examination comprising 120 objective multiple-choice questions carrying a total weightage of 360 marks, accompanied by a negative marking provision deducting one mark for every incorrect answer. Candidates who achieve the qualifying cut-off in the written test will be called forward for the final interview round carrying 40 marks, after which a final state-level merit list will be published to allocate postings across designated government and aided schools.
