Bihar teachers can apply for transfer from 4 Oct on e‑Shikshakosh portal

Teachers in Bihar will soon be able to submit applications for their regular transfers after a brief postponement caused by recent floods. The state education department has announced a new online window on the e‑Shikshakosh portal, giving staff a clear timeline to choose preferred schools.

Revised application dates

Initially, the department had set 17 September as the opening date for transfer applications. However, severe flooding forced a delay, and the authorities have now extended the period to run from 4 October to 10 October. During this week, eligible teachers can log in to the e‑Shikshakosh system, rank their preferred schools and submit their requests.

Subsequent steps

Following the closure of the application window, the department will publish the updated list of school vacancies on 1 October. After the list is released, the allocation of regular transfers will be finalised between 12 October and 18 November, including the handling of any appeals.

Chief Minister addresses non‑appointed teachers

Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary assured that the concerns of teachers who have not yet received postings will be addressed. Speaking at a ceremony for such teachers at the Shri Krishna Memorial Hall, he said he would meet with representatives and has directed senior officials to resolve pending issues. A committee has been formed to oversee the matter, and the government pledged continued respect for the teaching profession.

Broader education initiatives

The CM also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve Bihar’s education system. He mentioned the Student Credit Card scheme, which provides financial assistance for higher studies, and the "Vidyaarthi Saathi" app that now connects around 75,000 teachers with students for online learning. These steps, he said, reflect the administration’s commitment to delivering quality education and addressing the needs of both teachers and learners.

The ceremony was addressed by senior officials including the Vice‑President of the Bihar Teachers' Association, Avadhesh Narayan Singh, Prof. Naval Kishor Yadav and legislator Neeraj Kumar. Several members of the legislative assembly and a large number of teachers who had been awaiting placement were also present.
