CM Yogi Warns Rumour Mongers: "Anarchy at Religious Gatherings Will Not Be Tolerated"

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued stern, uncompromising directives to state administration and police officials, ordering immediate and severe legal action against rumor-mongers, miscreants, and anyone attempting to create obstacles during religious gatherings. Presiding over a high-level review meeting via video conferencing on Thursday to assess law and order, women's safety, the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, and preparations for upcoming festivals, CM Yogi emphasized that maintaining peace, public order, and communal harmony is the absolute top priority of the state government.

Strict Action Against Rumor-Mongers and Disrupters

Addressing senior officials from Lucknow, the Chief Minister made it clear that any attempt to vitiate the social atmosphere through fake news, rumors, or malicious social media posts must be met with an immediate, robust official rebuttal and swift punitive action. Declaring a zero-tolerance policy toward hooliganism, CM Yogi asserted that violence and anarchy during religious events will never be permitted under any circumstances. He noted that the sacred Kanwar Yatra serves as a powerful testament to collective faith, deep discipline, and exemplary social harmony, with various social and voluntary organizations actively participating to serve devotees alongside state machinery.

Ground Updates on Kanwar Yatra and Inter-State Coordination

During the security review, senior police and administrative heads presented updates on the massive influx of pilgrims:

• Meerut Zone Coordination: ADG Meerut Bhanu Bhaskar reported that the Kanwar Yatra is running smoothly with full logistical and security support extended by neighboring border states.

• Ghaziabad Footfall: Ghaziabad Police Commissioner J. Ravindra Gaur informed the Chief Minister that approximately 70,000 Kanwar pilgrims had already passed through Ghaziabad safely, with numbers expected to surge significantly over the following couple of days.

• Harmonious Observance in Bareilly: Highlighting a commendable display of communal brotherhood, CM Yogi specifically directed special administrative vigilance in Bareilly—where the Kanwar Yatra coincides with the Urs of Ala Hazrat. He praised the local Islamic community for respecting the religious sentiments of Shiva devotees by arranging the distribution of vegetarian food and scaling down the scope of the Urs celebrations.

Shifting focus to public security, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grave concern over recent incidents targeting women, reiterating that women's safety has remained the non-negotiable core agenda of his administration since day one.

To ensure foolproof protection across all districts, the Chief Minister issued explicit directives:

• Effective Deployment: Ensure the active and targeted field deployment of the more than 45,000 women police officers currently serving across Uttar Pradesh.

• Public Exposure of Offenders: Order the public exposure and identification of chronic molesters, eve-teasers, and petty pickpockets to deter criminal behavior.

• Intensified Patrols: Mandate increased police foot patrolling in sensitive urban and rural zones, holding local law enforcement directly accountable for any negligence regarding women's safety.
