Delhi Guest Teachers Granted Interim Relief by CAT to Apply for Over 800 Principal and Vice-Principal Posts
In a major relief for educators working in Delhi government schools, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has issued an interim order allowing guest teachers to participate in the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recruitment drive for Principal and Vice-Principal positions. The ruling was delivered by judicial member Manish Garg and administrative member Dr. Anand S. Khati after guest teachers approached the tribunal because initial recruitment terms barred them from applying. The tribunal has clarified that while participating in the selection process is now permitted, final eligibility and selection will remain subject to the tribunal's ultimate judgment, with exam results directed to be kept in a sealed cover pending the next hearing on October 27, 2026.
Over 800 Vacancies and Essential Educational Qualifications
The ongoing UPSC recruitment drive aims to fill a substantial total of 828 administrative vacancies across Delhi government schools, comprising 124 Principal posts and 704 Vice-Principal positions. Online applications were originally invited between July 25 and August 14, 2026. To be eligible for these coveted leadership roles, candidates must possess a Master's degree and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from a recognized university or institution, ensuring high academic and pedagogical standards for school administration.
