When Kapoor came on board, he expressed heavy reservations about entrusting the film's defining tracks to a newcomer like RD Burman. However, director Vijay Anand firmly stood his ground. Having previously promised legendary composer S.D. Burman that he would give his son a break, Anand proceeded to hand the musical reins to Pancham Da.

During the film's production, producer Nasir Hussain challenged RD Burman to compose an energetic rock-and-roll track that could rival the era-defining compositions of Shankar-Jaikishan and compel audiences to dance. Rising to the occasion, Pancham Da delivered the timeless tune for "Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyar Tera."
