Market Crash Defied: Shankesh Jewellers Jumps 18% to ₹116 on Blockbuster Q1

While Dalal Street struggled under pervasive bear grip on Friday, September 11, newly listed handcrafted gold jewellery manufacturer Shankesh Jewellers Limited turned heads by staging a spectacular intraday rally against prevailing macroeconomic headwinds. Defying broader market liquidation that dragged the benchmark BSE Sensex down by 1 percent, shares of Shankesh Jewellers skyrocketed nearly 18 percent in morning trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), touching a fresh record high of ₹116 per share. The vigorous buying interest on the counter reflects aggressive institutional and retail accumulation, highlighting that companies demonstrating genuine earnings visibility can decouple completely from overarching index-level panic.

Three-Day Winning Streak Logs 22% Surge Post-August Listing

The aggressive Friday rally marks the third consecutive day of solid gains for the newly minted jewellery maker. The stock has remained firmly in the green since Wednesday, accumulating an aggregate surge of roughly 22 percent over the three-session window. Shankesh Jewellers made its primary market debut on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE on August 25, 2026, offering equity shares to the public at an issue price of ₹93 per share. In less than three weeks of secondary market trading, the counter has appreciated by over 25 percent above its IPO allotment price, rewarding early investors who held their positions through initial market consolidation.

Blockbuster Q1 Earnings: Profit Doubles to ₹43 Crore as Revenue Surges 55%

The catalyst behind this sudden valuation re-rating lies directly in the company's stellar first-quarter financial print for the financial year 2026-27, announced late on September 10. Financial statements revealed that Shankesh Jewellers' profit after tax (PAT) jumped by 100 percent year-on-year to touch ₹43 crore, compared to ₹22 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Total revenue from operations for the June-ended quarter expanded 55 percent to ₹424 crore against ₹273 crore reported a year ago. Operating performance reflected similar strength, with quarterly earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) climbing 92 percent to ₹61 crore, while operating EBITDA margins expanded by 280 basis points to 14.4 percent compared to 11.6 percent in the previous period.

Formalization Tailwinds and Mandatory Hallmarking Drive Structural Sector Growth

Beyond core balance sheet metrics, the company is capturing strong structural tailwinds emerging across the domestic gems and jewellery ecosystem. The sector accounts for roughly 7 percent of India's gross domestic product (GDP) and generates nearly 15 percent of total merchandise exports. The implementation of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) mandatory hallmarking regulations is accelerating consumer migration from unorganized local vendors to trusted, organized retail brands. With only 30 percent of nationwide gold ornaments currently hallmarked, organized players command immense runway for market capture. Reaffirming their competitive stance, corporate management emphasized that expanding operational leverage helped deliver an EBITDA margin of 14.5 percent and a PAT margin of 10.2 percent, positioning the company’s asset-light artisan model and bespoke design network to lead the formalization of India's handcrafted jewellery market.
