The public issue witnessed a strong debut as Lalithaa Jewellery shares listed on the BSE at ₹265.3 per share, marking a 32 percent premium over the upper price band of ₹201. Simultaneously, the stock debuted on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) at ₹265, reflecting a 31.84 percent premium. Sustaining strong buyer interest into the afternoon session, the stock was trading around ₹259 at 12 noon, maintaining a solid gain of nearly 30 percent and rewarding initial allocators handsomely.
Massive Subscription Numbers and Anchor Investor Backing
The IPO received an overwhelming response throughout its bidding period, culminating in a total subscription of 62.97 times on its final day. According to exchange data, against the 6,27,61,403 shares on offer, the issue drew staggering bids for over 3.95 billion shares. Institutional demand led the charge, with the Qualified Institutional Buyer (QIB) category subscribing 145.38 times, while non-institutional investors subscribed 73.90 times and the retail portion saw an 11.81 times subscription. Prior to opening for public bidding, the company successfully raised ₹508 crore from high-profile anchor investors, including Goldman Sachs, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, and Bandhan Mutual Fund.
Use of Proceeds and Business Growth Strategy
Priced in the band of ₹190 to ₹201 per share, the company achieved a market valuation of approximately ₹11,250 crore at the upper end. The public offering comprised a fresh issuance of shares worth up to ₹1,200 crore alongside an offer for sale of up to ₹500 crore. Management has indicated that the net proceeds secured from the fresh issue will primarily be deployed toward expanding its retail footprint by launching new jewelry stores across key markets.
