Morbi. Heavy rains in Gujarat have inundated low-lying areas in many districts. Many parts of the state have received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. The situation in Navsari and Valsad districts has worsened due to the rise in the water level of rivers. The NDRF operation is underway to search for seven people who were swept away along with a tractor trolley while crossing a submerged bridge amid heavy rains in Morbi district.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and state Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi in ​​view of heavy rainfall in the state. Shah assured them of all possible help from the central government. According to data from the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), the highest rainfall of 356 mm was recorded in Khergam in Navsari district in the last 24 hours till 6 am on Monday.

During this period, Dang-Ahwa taluka of Dang district received 268 mm of rainfall and Kaprada (Valsad district) received 263 mm of rainfall. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed the situation late on Sunday night by talking to the district magistrates of Morbi, Kutch, Rajkot, Surendranagar and Bhavnagar districts of Saurashtra region, Bharuch and Dang districts of South Gujarat over the phone.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Gujarat next week. Heavy rainfall has also caused waterlogging in residential areas of Ahmedabad. Waterlogging on roads is causing problems in traffic. Vehicles are also unable to run due to waterlogging on roads. IMD has issued a warning of light to moderate rainfall in various parts of eastern and northeastern India including Odisha, Bihar, Bengal, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
