Bollywood star Yami Gautam Dhar is back to charm the big screen with an eccentric blend of domestic humour and supernatural intrigue in her upcoming film, Nayyi Navelli. Following a teaser that left moviegoers intrigued, Amazon MGM Studios and Aanand L. Rai's Colour Yellow have officially dropped the full-length trailer. Playing the mysterious new daughter-in-law named Mohini, Yami steps right into the middle of the wildly dysfunctional Awasthi family, leaving everyone questioning whether this picture-perfect bride is hiding dark witchcraft or silently protecting the household from an ancient, invisible menace.

Chaos in the Awasthi Household: Small-Town Meerut Meets High Fantasy

Set against the bustling, colourful backdrop of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, the film redefines the quintessential Indian family drama through an inventive fantasy lens:

The Ideal Daughter-in-Law: Mohini arrives in the household checking every traditional box—polite, graceful, and dutiful—yet an inexplicable trail of uncanny events begins following her around the house.
Clash of Quirky Personalities: The Awasthi family members, known for their eccentric temperaments and contradictory opinions, quickly find themselves in total disarray as everyday domestic disputes collide with inexplicable supernatural occurrences.
Laughter Meets High Stakes: Far from being an out-and-out horror film, the narrative weaves laugh-out-loud situational comedy with family drama, suspenseful plot twists, and high-energy supernatural action sequences.

Creative Powerhouse Behind the Project: Balaji Mohan and Himanshu Sharma

The project brings together an acclaimed creative team known for delivering rooted, culturally rich cinematic entertainment:

Direction by Balaji Mohan: Acclaimed filmmaker Balaji Mohan directs the film, seamlessly blending commercial pacing with folklore-driven fantasy elements.
Scripted by Hit Writers: The screenplay and dialogues have been penned by Himanshu Sharma (celebrated for the Tanu Weds Manu franchise and Raanjhanaa) alongside Divya Nidhi Sharma, ensuring witty small-town punchlines and authentic regional flavor.
Production Collab: The movie marks a significant collaboration between international giant Amazon MGM Studios and homegrown banner Colour Yellow Productions, bringing large-scale visual effects to an indigenous family-centric premise.

Festive Dussehra Release: Set to Hit Theatres on October 16

With theatrical buzz building across digital platforms, the fantasy-comedy is primed for a wide festive holiday run:

Big Festive Release Window: Nayyi Navelli is scheduled for an exclusive worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026, coinciding with the grand festive celebrations of Dussehra.
Universal Family Appeal: Backed by Yami Gautam Dhar’s compelling screen presence and an ensemble cast of seasoned character actors, the film aims to draw multi-generational family audiences to cinemas looking for a fresh spin on the traditional bhabhi dynamic.
