News Topical, Digital Desk : Model and actress Neha Sharma appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday for questioning in a money laundering case involving online betting platform 1XBet. The 38-year-old actress' statement was recorded under provisions of the PMLA, officials said. Neha Sharma is believed to be associated with the betting platform through some advertisements. Neha Sharma's appearance is the latest step in the ongoing investigation into 1xBet's operations in India. Authorities are recording her statement to understand whether she had any role in promoting the platform through endorsements.

These former cricketers were also questioned

The ED had earlier attached assets worth Rs 11.14 crore belonging to former cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina in the same case after questioning them in a similar manner. Registered in Curacao, 1XBet was described by the portal as a globally recognized bookmaker app with 18 years of experience in the betting industry. The ED said 1XBet was operating in India without permission and was using advertisements through internet media, online videos and print media to target Indian users.

The names of these actors including Sonu Sood were also associated

The central government recently introduced a law banning online gaming in India. In addition to seizing the assets of two cricketers, the ED also questioned sports personalities Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa, actor Sonu Sood, 1XBet's Indian brand ambassador Urvashi Rautela, former Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty, and Bengali actor Ankush Hazra as part of its investigation.
