After Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, now Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has stressed on increasing the population by talking about the new population policy. CM Stalin has appealed to the people to have more children. During a mass marriage program in Chennai, he said that now the time has come that newly married couples should have 16 children each.

Stalin stressed on increasing the population

Stalin said, our elders used to say "Padnarum Petru Peruvalva Vazhagai" which does not mean having 16 children but 16 types of wealth. They used to bless us with 16 types of wealth. Now it is said "Have limited children and live a happy life" but today such circumstances are being created that our MP seats are going to decrease, in such a situation such a mental state has been created that instead of having limited children, why don't we have 16 children, we should not forget this.

CM Stalin said this in his inaugural address at the free marriage programme of the HR&CE Department in Chennai. Earlier, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandra Babu Naidu announced that the Andhra Pradesh government plans to encourage families with more children due to the ageing population and urged people of the South Indian state to consider having more children.

'Only those who have more than 2 children will be able to contest local body elections'

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed concern over the declining youth population in Andhra Pradesh. He said that people of South Indian states should have more and more children. The CM said that his government is planning to bring a new law to increase the youth population and population rate. Under this, only people with two or more children will be able to contest local body elections in Andhra Pradesh. On Sunday, CM Naidu said that his government is planning to make a law in this regard soon.

The remarks by the two chief ministers came after reports that the BJP-led central government was planning to reorganise constituencies on the basis of population.
