how puja is done

During Navpatrika Puja, there is a ritual of worshipping nine leaves along with Lord Ganesha and Goddess Durga. Also, during the puja, nine leaves are tied together and worshipped. These include leaves of banana, raw, turmeric, pomegranate, Ashoka, bead, paddy, bilva and barley plants. These are considered to be the symbol of nine forms of Goddess Durga.

During the puja, first of all these nine leaves are tied in a thread and the idol is bathed in a holy river, which is called Mahasnan. After this, a stool is laid in the temple of the house and the idol of Maa Durga is installed on it. During this, after doing Pran Pratishtha of the idol, it is customary to worship the mother with rituals.
