Delhi News: The AATS team of Delhi Police's North District has achieved a major success by arresting a criminal who was absconding for 17 years. This accused was wanted in a night theft case and was hiding in Jammu and Kashmir to avoid court hearing. The accused was declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) in 2007.
According to DCP North, the AATS team of North District of Delhi Police has launched a special campaign to nab criminals. Under this campaign, a special team was formed to nab proclaimed offenders, criminals absconding from bail and parole. The team included HC Omprakash Dagar, HC Puneet Malik and HC Sumit, who were working under the supervision of Inspector Ishwar Singh and ACP Anil Kumar.
These people were arrested.
The team received a secret information through HC Puneet Malik that a proclaimed offender was hiding in Bawana area of Delhi. After this, the team took immediate action and laid a trap in the area. The accused tried to escape, but the police caught him on the spot. The arrested accused was identified as Majahul Khan alias Habbu (45 years), resident of Sanjay Amar Colony, Delhi.
According to police records, Majahul Khan was arrested in 2000 in a case of night theft (FIR No. 228/2000). A case was registered against him under Sections 457/380/34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to the DCP, after being released from jail, Majhul Khan repeatedly refused to appear in court. Due to this, in 2007, he was declared a proclaimed offender by the Tis Hazari Court of Delhi. To avoid arrest, he kept changing his location
repeatedly in Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir. Finally, on the basis of hard work and secret information of the police, he was arrested from Bawana on 09 January 2025.
Presently, after the arrest, the accused was arrested under Section 35.1(D) BNSS at PS Timarpur and produced in the court on time. Also, SHO of PS Bara Hindu Rao was also informed so that further legal procedures could be completed.
