Abdul Makki Died: Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki, brother-in-law of Mumbai attack alleged mastermind Hafiz Saeed and deputy chief of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa, died of a heart attack in Lahore on Friday.
According to Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), Professor Abdul Rehman Makki was ill for the past few days and was undergoing treatment for diabetes at a private hospital in Lahore.
"Makki suffered a heart attack this morning (Abdul Makki Died) and breathed his last in hospital," a JUI official told PTI.
Who is Abdul Rehman Makki?
Abdul Rehman Makki is also known as Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki. He was born in Bahawalpur, Punjab province of Pakistan. Makki has been very close to Hafiz Saeed for a long time.
He has also held several important positions in Lashkar and Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) . Makki was the political chief and also handled tasks like raising funds for Lashkar. He was also a member of Lashkar's governing body Shura.
Makki was accused by Indian agencies for the terrorist attack on Red Fort in 2000 and Taj Hotel in Mumbai in 2008. The US Finance Department included him in the list of global terrorists in 2010.

Makki, brother-in-law of JUI chief Hafiz Saeed, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment by an anti-terrorism court in 2020 for financing terrorism.
JUI-F deputy chief Makki has been in the news ever since he was sentenced for terror financing.
Pakistan Muttahida Muslim League (PMML) said in a statement that Makki was a supporter of the Pakistani ideology.
In 2023, Makki will be declared a global terrorist by the United Nations, which would subject him to an asset freeze, a travel ban, and an arms embargo.

Abdul Rehman Makki's name was also associated with the Mumbai attacks. According to the information received, he had provided funds to the terrorists for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. About 166 people were killed in this attack. A total of nine terrorists were also killed in the army's action against the attack. During this, a terrorist Aamir Ajmal Kasab was caught alive.
