Shyam Dev Rai Choudhary Passes Away: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shyam Dev Rai Choudhary (85), who was MLA from Varanasi city south for seven consecutive terms, died on Tuesday morning during treatment in the hospital. Giving this information, a BJP official said that Choudhary, popularly known as Dada, was suffering from age-related problems for some days.

Last Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inquired about his well-being and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also visited Choudhary in the hospital during his Varanasi visit. BJP Metropolitan President Vidyasagar Rai said that Shyam Dev Rai Choudhary was admitted to a private hospital in Mahmoorganj for treatment due to brain hemorrhage, where he died during treatment on Tuesday morning.

He said that the loss caused by Dada's death cannot be compensated. He said that Dada was popular among the public due to his simplicity and straightforwardness and with his death Kashi has lost a popular leader. BJP leaders said that Shyam Dev Rai Chaudhary was MLA of City South for seven consecutive times from 1989 to 2017. Shyam Dev Rai, who was a minister in the BJP government, was also the Protem Speaker in 2007 and 2012.

has also expressed grief over the death of the former MLA . He wrote on his social media, 'I am deeply saddened by the death of senior BJP leader Shyamdev Rai Chaudhary ji, who was dedicated to public service throughout his life. We all used to call him 'Dada' with affection. He not only contributed significantly in nurturing and grooming the organization, but he also remained dedicated to the development of Kashi.'

PM Modi shared two photos with him on his social media and wrote, 'His departure is an irreparable loss for Kashi as well as the entire political world. May God give strength to his family and supporters in this hour of grief. Om Shanti!'
